- Many classes of medications are associated with psychotic adverse events. Older adults are particularly vulnerable, especially those with CNS impairments.
- Psychotic symptoms have also been reported related to treatment with other medications including: antiarrhythmic agents, antineoplastic agents, antiviral agents, baclofen, ß-blockers, cyclosporine, dopaminergic agents, interferon, opioids, and steroids. The appropriate therapeutic management is to reduce the dosage of or to eliminate the associated medication.
